Denture Repairs
Denture Repairs at Cotswold Denture Clinic
If you need a denture repaired, we can usually do it while you wait! Expect around an hour to repair a denture but we will advise you exactly how long it will be once we have assessed the damage.
We can also add straighteners to the denture, reline it, add teeth or even add a soft lining material. In fact there isn’t anything we can’t do when it comes to dentures.
Denture Repairs at Cotswold Dentures
At Cotswold Dentures, we understand how worrying it can be when your denture breaks or no longer fits properly. Our on-site Clinical Dental Technician can often repair your denture quickly and get you smiling again the same day.
Booking a Denture Repair Appointment
If your denture is cracked, chipped, broken in two, or simply feels loose, the first step is to book a denture repair appointment.
When you arrive at our clinic, our technician will:
Examine your denture carefully to assess the type and extent of the damage.
Discuss the repair plan with you, including the cost and how long it will take.
In most cases, the repair can be carried out while you wait, usually taking around one hour.
If the damage is more complex, or if additional work is required, we will provide a clear timeframe before starting.
Common Types of Denture Repairs
Denture breakages can happen for a variety of reasons, from accidental drops to changes in the shape of your mouth.
We can usually help with:
Cracked or fractured dentures – either hairline cracks or breaks right through the base.
Chipped or broken teeth – we can replace or repair the affected tooth.
Loose or ill-fitting dentures – often solved with a reline or adjustment.
Clasp or metal framework damage – common with partial dentures.
Adding new teeth – for example, after a natural tooth has been extracted.
How Denture Type Affects Repairs
The type of denture you have will influence how we repair it:
Acrylic dentures – the most common type; usually straightforward to repair or reline.
Flexible dentures (Valplast® or similar) – can often be repaired but may sometimes need to be remade depending on the breakage.
Chrome cobalt (metal-based) dentures – more robust but repairs often require specialist techniques.
Implant-retained dentures – damage is rare but if it occurs, repairs may involve both the denture and the attachment components.
Our technician will always explain your options and advise whether repair is the best long-term solution or if a replacement would be more appropriate.
Adjustments, Relines & Alterations
Sometimes it isn’t a breakage that needs fixing – it’s the fit or comfort. Over time, natural changes in your gums and bone structure can make dentures feel loose.
We can often resolve this by:
Relining your denture – adding new material to the fitting surface so it matches your gums more closely.
Adding extra teeth – for example, if you have lost another natural tooth.
Minor adjustments or reshaping – to improve comfort or reduce sore spots.
These procedures can often be carried out on the same day.
