Dental technician repairing dentures in laboratory

A broken denture is one of those things that tends to happen at the worst possible moment — right before an important event, or first thing in the morning. The good news is that many common denture problems can be repaired quickly, often on the same day.

What Can Be Repaired?

The most common denture repairs we carry out at Cotswold Denture Clinic include:

  • Cracked or broken base — the acrylic base of a denture can crack if dropped. In many cases this can be repaired and the denture will be as strong as before.
  • Broken or chipped tooth — a single denture tooth that has broken off can usually be replaced and colour-matched to the others.
  • Loose or broken clasp — on partial dentures, the metal clasps that grip your remaining teeth can sometimes break or become loose.
  • Adding a tooth — if you’ve had a natural tooth extracted, it can often be added to your existing partial denture relatively quickly.

What Can’t Be Repaired?

Not everything is fixable. If a denture has been repaired multiple times, is very old, or the break is in a particularly stressed area, replacement is often the better long-term solution. A repair will only last as long as the weakest point.

How Quickly Can We Help?

At Cotswold Denture Clinic, many denture repairs can be completed on the same day, depending on the nature of the damage and our appointment availability. We know how important it is to have your dentures back as quickly as possible — we treat emergency repairs as a priority.

Call us on 01793 540128 (lines open 24/7) or get in touch online to describe the problem and we’ll advise on the fastest solution.

Should I Try a DIY Repair Kit?

We’d strongly advise against it. Over-the-counter denture repair kits use adhesives that are not intended for long-term use, can alter the shape of your denture, and can make a proper professional repair more difficult afterwards. They may hold things together in an emergency for a few hours, but please contact us as soon as possible rather than relying on them.

How long does a denture repair take?

Many repairs at Cotswold Denture Clinic can be completed same-day. More complex repairs may take 24–48 hours. Contact us to discuss your specific situation.

How much does a denture repair cost?

Repair costs vary depending on the type of damage. Simple crack repairs or replacing a single tooth are typically less expensive than adding a new tooth or replacing a clasp. Contact us for a quote specific to your repair.

Can I use super glue to fix my denture?

We strongly advise against using super glue or household adhesives on dentures. They are toxic if ingested, can alter the fit, and often make professional repair more difficult. Call us instead — many repairs can be done very quickly.
