Travel essentials including denture care products

Travelling with dentures is completely manageable — but a little forward planning makes it much more comfortable. Whether you’re off on a UK break or flying further afield, here’s what to pack and what to watch out for.

What to Pack

  • Denture brush — a soft-bristled denture brush is more compact than a regular toothbrush and specifically designed for dentures
  • Non-abrasive denture cleaner — or mild hand soap as an alternative
  • Denture soaking tablets — effervescent tablets are lightweight and dissolve easily in a glass of cold water
  • A denture container — a sealed, sturdy container for overnight soaking. Don’t rely on wrapping them in tissue — this is how many dentures end up accidentally thrown away in hotels
  • Denture fixative — if you use adhesive, bring enough for your whole trip plus a little extra

On the Plane

There’s no problem wearing your dentures during a flight. If you’re on a long-haul flight and want to sleep, you can remove them and store them in your container with a little water. Don’t leave them loose in a seatback pocket.

Food and Drink While Away

Holiday food is often more adventurous than your daily routine. Take it steady with anything very hard or very chewy, especially in the first few days — your dentures may behave slightly differently in hotter climates as materials can be affected by temperature.

What to Do If Something Goes Wrong

If your denture cracks or breaks while you’re away, a temporary denture repair kit from a pharmacy can help in an emergency — but avoid DIY super glue solutions as these can damage the denture material and make proper repair harder. Contact us on your return and we’ll get you booked in as quickly as possible.

Before a longer trip, consider booking a Denture MOT at Cotswold Denture Clinic to make sure everything is in good order before you go. Call 01793 540128 or get in touch online.

Can I take denture cleaning tablets through airport security?

Yes — solid denture tablets are not subject to liquids restrictions and can go in your hand luggage. If you’re carrying liquid denture cleaner, it must follow the standard 100ml rule for hand luggage.

What should I do if I lose my dentures while on holiday?

Contact your travel insurance provider — many policies cover emergency dental treatment abroad. Local dental clinics in tourist areas can often provide temporary solutions. Contact Cotswold Denture Clinic on your return for a full replacement.

Is it safe to wear dentures on a plane?

Yes, completely. There’s no reason you cannot wear your dentures during a flight. If you remove them to sleep, store them safely in a sealed container with a little water.
