Natural-looking dentures depend on the teeth selected and the way they are arranged. Simon explains why an individual result involves more than choosing a bright shade.
Depth and surface detail matter
Different denture teeth have different shapes, textures and optical properties. Some use several layers to give variation in colour and translucency. These details influence how the teeth appear in changing light.
Position matters just as much
Even attractive teeth need to be arranged in a way that suits your mouth and face. Length, lip support and the smile line all need discussion alongside the bite. A uniform, symmetrical appearance is not everyone's preference.
Talk at the try-in stage
Explain whether you want to keep something familiar about your smile or change a feature. Old photographs can be helpful. Ask to see and discuss the proposed appearance before the final denture is processed where the treatment permits. A natural result is an aim to plan for, not a guarantee that nobody will ever recognise a denture.
